Paul Robert Gessendorf aka Pauly P. Jam lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, August 24th at 12:53pm. Buck, his parents, his fiancé, and about a dozen of his family members were called together at 5:30am and were by his bedside all morning. The cancer had spread so badly into his lungs and had created so much of a fluid buildup that there was nothing the doctors could do except administer higher and higher doses of morphine to make sure he felt no pain...

"A good guy that finished first"

Buck, Amy, Tracy, Derrick, Jennifer, David, Jeffie, Uncle Gary, Aunt Sandy, Capt'n Dickie, Matt, Ronnie, Denise, Pam and Ryan were The Council Members along with the family, many friends and neighbors to say good-bye to Pauly at the St. James of the Valley church on Thursday, August 28th, 2003. A beautiful service included a eulogy by Paul's Uncle Dennis who said, "Paul was a good guy. How could this happen to such a good guy? Do good guys really finish last?". But after thinking about it for a moment he realized that we're all still here, so really, Paul finished first! When our time comes, Paul will no doubt be kicked back in a lawn chair with an ice cold one in his hand, just inside the Pearly Gates of Heaven waiting to greet us! But as we walk by and say aren't you coming? Pauly will just smile and say, "You go on, I'll catch up with you later. I'm waiting on a friend".
